
The Barwon Heads Golf Club is located on the southern coast of the State of Victoria in a region known as the Bellarine Peninsula, 1¼ hours drive south from the city of Melbourne and 1½ hours drive from Melbourne International Airport. The city of Geelong is only 20 minutes away by car.
Public transport can take you from Melbourne to Geelong (train) or from the airport to Geelong (Gull Bus). It is then a matter of a taxi to the Club or it may be possible to arrange for courtesy car pick up.
There are many other golf courses nearby at which you may enjoy a game.
Weather ConditionsThe course is playable all year. The warmest months are December, January and February and the coolest June, July and August, but rarely is there a day when the weather doesn't allow guests to enjoy a game of golf or tennis.
Local AttractionsThe city of Geelong not far away has excellent shopping, theatres and cinemas, botanic gardens, and galleries. It is also home to the award-winning National Wool Museum.
The historic township of Queenscliff is not far from Barwon Heads. Four elegant hotels built in the mid 19th Century set the style of the town.
The Queenscliff to Sorrento car ferry gives access to the Mornington Peninsula and its many excellent courses.
The Great Ocean RoadTakes you past some of the most remarkable coastal cliffs and rock formations in the world which are widely recognized as one of Australias great natural wonders and the most visited destination in Victoria. The road journey is through diverse hinterland and through many interesting towns and villages. A natural attraction not to be missed.
Other ActivitiesThe Bellarine Peninsula is famed for its surf beaches. 13th Beach, named due to its proximity to the 13th hole, has excellent surfing all year round and during the summer this beach is patrolled by Lifesavers. Nearby is the world famous "Bell's Beach" home of the Bell's Easter Classic, Australia's largest surfing event.
The Barwon River estuary and Ocean Grove have perfect beaches for swimming or just relaxing.
The Barwon Heads Aero Club has an airfield within 5 kilometers ideal for joy flights or an unusual way of arriving for a game of golf.
